Andrea Barzagli has been rumoured to be  on his way to the New York Cosmos in the summer.

According to a goal.com report, the side from the NASL would be keen to add the 35-year-old to their team. The squad currently employs former Juventus player Amauri as well.

The move is highly unlikely as Barzagli still has one year left on his contract and is still finding playing time under coach Max Allegri.

To make matters worse for the Cosmos, 2018 is a World Cup year and Barzagli will be looking to keep in tiptop shape or risk NT coach Giampiero Ventura overlooking the player based on the league he plays in, similar to what happened to Sebastien Giovinco.
