Having been linked with Juventus all summer, Blaise Matuidi has admitted that he was very close to leaving Paris Saint-Germain for the Bianconeri but insists he is now focused on helping the Ligue 1 club.

“It is true, there was more than one contact with Juventus,” the midfielder told BeIn Sports. “After the European Championship my agent and I had discussions with the club.

“I wanted to talk with PSG to understand what the situation was on the new coach, I wanted clarity and after speaking with Unai Emery I understood many things. There were things to settle with PSG but now it’s all sorted out.

“Honestly, at one point I hesitated and I really thought about leaving Paris, but now I am very happy at PSG, this is the past and I am proud to still be here. I hope to wear the colors of Paris Saint-Germain for a long time.”
