A letter written by Tom Kaufman (Israel)
“Dear Juventus,
I am writing this after my very bad experience at the piazza San Carlo in last Saturday champions league watching event.
I felt that as a supporter I must do it because I care, if not for me, for others to come to the same event at the piazza in the future. I support juve for the last 20 years, I have been in many games, I been there in the good times and bad. every year that pass I try to fly to as many matches as i can. I was and will always be there for my old lady, I can proudly say that even in serie B when everybody else left us behind, I have been there in matches to support our great juventus.
Juve for me is much more than a sport team, juve is a way of life. Our motto – FINO ALLA FINE – is more than just a sentence for me, I admire our values and very proud of them and what they represent. And now for the point: Long story short; Like in 2015, I couldn’t stay at my homeland while our boys fighting our final war for the biggest cup. and like in 2015 I decided to travel and support us at our home with my brothers in arm, for a chance to unforgettable experience and celebration with our team, something that we dream about for the last 20 years. So as i took this decision again (to be at torino at the final watching event), I was very sure that the mistakes that accrued in 2015 at the piazza were learned as I expected from our brilliant organization.
In 2015 there were too many supporters in one place with barley visibilty and dangerously crowded. Also with only two poor screens that cause people to squeeze on one another in a very dangerous way because they couldn’t see anything. This time I was sure that our great juventus organization, the one that I am so admire and identified with, will do the right thing for his supporters that came from all over the world and will put several more big screens. What was different This time was that I took with me my little brother (for his 13th birthday) who is also admire and support juve. this was his first time ever in Torino, first time at the museum and stadium, and the biggest part was watching for his first time ever in his life with real juventus supporters in our home – Torino.
When I arrived to the piazza san carlo on last Saturday I was in real shock. Not just there were no improvement, the second screen from 2015, the one who was in the middle of the piazza was off! what made people squeeze even more for an impossible mission – especially for kids, old and women. It’s needless to say that we didn’t saw the game, we came to the piazza 2 hours before and there was no room for us, but this even wasn’t the worst part. We barely made alive from there. We moved from the area where the mass accrued just minute away, we were very lucky, I don’t want to think what could have even happened if we weren’t lucky enough to move from this area. My brother is in trauma and I feel a deep disappointment, I hope that finally our organization and the city of Torino will understand this terrible mistakes and next year when we will play at the final (and win it) at kiev, juventus and the city of Torino will add several more big screens and prevent this bitter disappointment.
Greating from Israel, Fino alla fine.
Tom Kaufman”
