AS Roma’s embarrassing Champions League exit will not only damages them financially, it will hand even more money to Juventus and Napoli. The Giallorossi crashed out of the competition in the playoff round, losing 3-0 on Tuesday and 4-1 on aggregate to Porto, meaning they will now drop into the Europa League group phase instead.
But, thanks to the way the money from the Champions League is divided up, the loss means Roma will receive €10 million while the remaining €100 million will be split between their rivals. The first half of that will see 55% (€27.5m) go to Juventus and 45% (€22.5m) while the remaining €50m will depend on how many games they each take part in during the course of the competition.
