Juventus are willing to spend big money for the services of Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain and their effort is completely supported by Paolo Rossi, who thinks the Argentine would perfectly match the club’s winning mentality and tradition.

The Italian, who won the Champions League with Juventus in 1985, believes that El Pipita could also make a historic impact in Turin and is well worth the investment.

“Higuain is a great player that would significantly raise the quality in Juventus’ squad,” Rossi said.

“Now they could really succeed in the Champions League. He is in the finest form of his career and might even be among the top three forwards in the world.”

As the main front man for Napoli last season, Higuain scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A appearances. According to Rossi, however, the qualities of the player extends beyond the number of goals he scores.

“He is a classic striker and devastating in the penalty area, but he is also very good at communicating with his teammates,” the World Cup winner said.

“Higuain is an old-fashioned forward who also possesses characteristics of the modern player – technically-gifted and physical at the same time.”

Higuian will have to compete for playing time with compatriot Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic at Juventus, but Rossi sees that as an advantage for the Bianconeri.

“[Mandzukic and Higuain] are two very different centre forwards, so something would have to change in the line-up,” he said.

“Mandzukic is more generous and not as strong of a finisher, so [coach Massimiliano] Allegri would have to find a way to utilise them both, maybe even in the same game.

“After all, it’s a blessing to have two different types of centre forwards.”

“Dybala will have a wonderful relationship with Higuain and the two could become one of the best attacking duos in the history of Juventus.”

Rossi also defended El Pipita, whose move to Juventus angered Napoli fans before the transfer has even been made official.

“I do not think Higuain has made the decision because of money, but because of his hunger to win, not only in Italy but in Europe as well,” Rossi said.
